What CDBS is
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule, often called CDBS, is an Australian Government program that may help eligible children access basic dental services. Eligibility and covered services are set by the program and can change, so families should confirm current details before treatment.
Dental clinics can help families understand whether CDBS may apply, but final eligibility is determined by the relevant government criteria.
What services may be included
CDBS may cover basic dental services such as examinations, X-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canal treatment and extractions within program rules. Orthodontic, cosmetic and hospital services are generally not included.
Your dentist should explain what is recommended, what may be covered and whether any costs apply before treatment begins.
Why regular children’s visits matter
Children’s dental visits are not only for toothache. They help monitor development, baby tooth loss, adult tooth eruption, brushing habits, diet risks and early decay. Positive visits also help children feel more confident at the dentist.
At Relax Dental & Facial Care, appointments are paced gently for children and families.
When to call the clinic
Call if your child has pain, swelling, a broken tooth, adult teeth coming through behind baby teeth, bleeding gums, or if you want to check CDBS appointment options. Our Blackburn North team can guide you on the next step.
